Applications
Biomass can be used to provide heat to most applications. Initially in the US the primary market was for residential wood and pellet stoves but that has now evolved into a variety of proven applications:
Central Heating Systems
A single system that uniformly heats the entire building. They also can serve all hot water needs for bath, kitchen, laundry, etc. Homes, office buildings, schools, etc.
Campus Heating systems
A small cluster of buildings at one facility. Providing space heat and hot water needs for all buildings through one heating plant and distribution through underground insulated piping.
District Heating Systems
A central heating plant that distributes heat to many buildings in a community. It can serve homes, schools, hotels, offices, etc. Downtowns of some major cities (such as Denver) currently use a district heating system.
Process Heating
Many manufacturing and industrial facilities use large volumes of heat, not only for space heating, but for their process. Food processing, breweries, laundries, etc require heat in order to produce their products.
